The ultimate mower blade in a convenient set of 7 for John Deere 1600 Wide Area Mowers. These are excellent replacements for John Deere part number TCU51118. These brand new blades are made in the USA and have never been installed. Guaranteed to fit tall John Deere model 1600. The blades are 21 7/8″ long, 3″ wide and are. 206 thick with a 7/8 round hole in the center. These blades are Oregon G5 “Gator” blades part number 596-722. Here are several reasons why I think these specific blades are the best blade for the 1600 WAM. 1 Gator blades are designed to recirculate the grass clipping into the cutting path resulting in finer clippings for quicker decomposition. This decomposition adds nutrients back into the soil quicker and is less likely to develop diseases that thicker clippings may develop. 2 Unlike a mulching kit, gator blades still discharge out the side. This has several benefits. With a mulching kit it is recommended that the operator only cut off a 1/3 of the grass at a time. Crowding the mulching kit can leave clumps of grass lay behind because the mulching kit cannot handle a large amount of material.
