Japan MAC MS-46 Pro Series 2 PCS Japanese Santoku Knife Set (MSK-65 & SK-40) NIB
MS-46 – Pro Series Santoku Set 2pcs (MSK-65/ SK-40). A two-piece starter set from our Professional/Superior Series. Includes the MSK-65 6½” Santoku knife w/dimples and SK-40 4″ Mini-Santoku Paring knife. MSK-65 – Professional Series 6 ½ Santoku with dimples. The iconic kitchen knife over the last decade. The dimpled Santoku has become commonplace amongst the current household knife set. Ours features the standard bolster of our Professional Series and dimples to help the knife glide through almost any food with ease. The “knife of three virtues” is perfect for fruits/vegetables, meats, and fish. This knife also features our sub-zero tempered steel which retains its edge better than our original steel. MAC Professional Series Mighty Santoku, dimpled, 6.5″ (MSK-65) and a Superior Series Paring Santoku, 4″ (SK-40). The Mighty Santoku is a great all-purpose tool chop. Cut, slice and dice. The Paring Santoku is great for paring and to use as a small utility knife. Knife Length: 11.69. Weight: 6.0 oz. Blade Length: 6.69. Blade Height: 1.82. Blade Thickness: 2.0 mm. 2.0-2.5mm thin blades for less wedging into cuts and for producing a sharper knife. Original Molybdenum steel has better edge-retention and is easier to sharpen than most other brands (Except MSK-65 and MTH-80 which use our Superior Steel). Western-style shapes with a pointed tip and a handle that is in-line with the spine of the blade (On most knives in this series). The added bolster on these knives concentrates the weight of the knife in the center of your hand when using a chef’s grip. The added weight helps to drive the knife through hard/dense foods such as carrots, apples, and onions without having to use a thicker blade. The bolster also provides a smoother grip area for your thumb when using a chef’s grip to pinch the blade. Razor-sharp edge that made MAC knives famous over 40 years ago. Completely tapered from spine to edge, creating a V-shaped blade that glides through cuts with ease. Perfectly balanced weight distribution creates a sense of comfort when holding the knife and keeps you in control of the blade. Slightly curved edge allows you to use almost any style of cutting whether it is a European rocking motion or a Japanese slicing motion. Pakka wood handle has the look and feel of natural wood but lasts much longer. Comfortable balance, light-weight, sharp edge, and thin blade all combine to create a precision tool that is easy to handle and control; reducing the risk of hurting yourself while working on the cutting board. SK-40 – Superior Series 4 Paring Knife. This 4 paring knife was designed as a miniature version of the Santoku to function both as a paring knife and as a small utility knife. The up-swept handle and taller blade profile allows greater knuckle clearance so that it can be used on the cutting board to chop and slice small items. The 4 length is still short enough to comfortably peel/pare. Knife Length: 8.00. Weight: 2.3 oz. Blade Length: 4.14. Blade Height: 1.09. 2.0-2.5mm thin blades. Slightly thicker than our Original series but with the same concept in mind: Thinner=sharper. By increasing the blade thickness to 2.0mm, these knives are slightly stiffer than the 1.5mm counterparts and therefore easier to use when cutting hard/dense foods such as carrots, apples, and onions. Sub-zero tempered Superior Steel – the same steel as our Original Molybdenum steel but with an extra processing step to create better edge retention while maintaining the same ease of sharpening. Light-weight due to the lack of a bolster and the thin blade eases stress on your hand and arm. Rounded tip for safety and to prevent bending/breaking the tip (Only on some knives in this series). Hole punched near the tip for hanging the knife (Only on some knives). Sand-blasting strip along the edge to put small pockets of air between the knife and the food you are cutting. This reduces the “vacuum-effect” where a food tends to grab the sides of the blade and prevents you from easily cutting through. (Not available on the SK-40 or SB-105). Elevated handle for a more ergonomic grip and to create extra clearance under the handle for your knuckles.
